Who travels on the 344 drive, km 48 in Santa Rosa, state of the Rio Grande dos Sul, can see part of the new Stara branch structure. The company has been in the city since 2013, which was when Stara started factory buildings.
With an estimated investment of R$ 126 million, Stara’s new unit will be 25,012.67 m² and will include all manufacturing processes such as cutting, bending, welding, machining, painting, and shipping. Today, the branch has 400 employees. It is estimated that the factory starts the activities with 600 employees and annually manufactures 4 000 units of moving lines, soil preparation, spreading by gravity, and logistics.
The Stara CEO, Átila Stapelbroek Trennepohl says “All investments made in the branch in the city of Santa Rosa will increase Stara manufacturing since the company will be expanded and increase even more its operations in the region. Therefore, keeping its constant evolution”.
The director of the branch in Santa Rosa, Fábio Silva, stands out that the building is 63% and is within the planned schedule. “Despite the delay and weather conditions, the construction is within schedule. The administrative buildings are the focus now because of the project modifications and eminent growing, we chose to make the restructuration a little bigger than planned”, says Fábio.
The construction project of the branch in Santa Rosa comprises the following departments:
Administrative and Human Resources, which selects and hires the required labor to the direct and indirect areas. In addition to providing training for the new employees. Additionally, the department is responsible for all administrative issues of the branch, the Safety Department included.
Environment Department is responsible for the activities, such as issuing the operation licenses, management, preservation, conservation, plant control, and water supply in the factory unit, among others.
Machines and pieces of equipment develop and implement the factory layout, and install machines and pieces of equipment to help the manufacturing processes, from material receiving to product shipping.
The Construction area, is in charge of the building construction, from earthworks, and finishing to the electrical and hydraulic installations.
IT Department replicates and operates all systems to ensure availability, information security, and integrity of the system data.
Finally, the Transition between the units, which ensures that the new unit has conditions to manufacture through all processes and meet the planning of the manufacturing process assertively.
New branch expectations
Fábio also talks about the expectation of the employees in relation to the construction: “We are positive. Everyone has high expectations. We can’t wait to use the new building. We were able to take some employees to the construction and there’s also a TV at the factory entrance so that everyone can follow the construction process”.
He also highlights the community’s interest in the construction: “Plenty of people come to us for information about the company and how to apply to work at Stara Family.” The construction is expected to be finished in December of this year.
Stara gathers a team for the kick-off of systems
An important step of the new Stara factory construction in Santa Rosa happened in June. The branch employees in the Santa Rosa branch, headquarters in Não Me Toque, representatives of the partner companies to implant the systems, and Cast and Sequor participated in the project kick-off for the new factory systems.
On June 7th, the Stara CEO, Átila Stapelbroek Trennepohl, service providers, key users from the headquarters, and the teams from Santa Rosa met to align the main project points. The management team shared and reinforced the importance of team engagement for the new implementation system’s success as the schedules, planned dates, and next steps, among others.
According to the project leader and one of the responsible people for the process structuration of the factory, Filipe Spezia, it was a huge moment. “We gathered and engaged all the people involved directly in the project. We got closer to our partners and shared the importance of the project and Stara as a company”. To honor this commitment, a signature on a shirt was symbolically made for all project members to reinforce the importance of everyone for the project establishment.
Filipe explains that the expectation is to start with the new system in Santa Rosa in 2023. “After the project kick-off, we mapped what continues in the headquarters and what gets to Santa Rosa”, he says.
